Watch Joel Nix create an electrical estimate for a lake cabin.
The lake cabin (see print below) has a kitchen, a dining room, 2 bedrooms, and a bathroom. This estimate took
less than 25 minutes from start to finish. After watching Joel create an electrical estimate, you will realize how
easy it is to add rooms to the takeoff, modify the assemblies in each room, add miscellaneous expenses, and
print reports.
While creating this estimate, Joel quickly adds rooms to the takeoff by double clicking on them in the template
library. After realizing that one of the rooms he uses is not in the template library, he quickly creates a room and
adds 2 assemblies to it.
Scrolling through the takeoff, Joel carefully looks at each assembly room by room. He changes the quantities of
some assemblies. He adds and deletes some assemblies while changing the quantities of others. Joel clicks on
the information icon to view assembly information. This information can be modified.
On the Misc tab, Joel adds in 4 hours of drive time and 60 dollars of gas. He then explains that these charges will
not show up in the Estimate Detail Report. In the Pricing Tab, Joel shows how to change the labor cost and
markup for an individual estimate, how to override an assembly price, and how to account for the miscellaneous
expenses. Finally, Joel prints off a report and demonstrates how to create a change order.
